Overview

Job Title:  Garage Technician, Level I - Wash Bay

Department:  Dot Transportation, Inc (DTI) / Garage

Location:  Mt Sterling, IL

Schedule:  Full Time.  Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.  8:30pm - 7:00am

 

 Supervision:

  • Reports to Wash Bay Supervisor.
  • Executes work under direction or established procedures 90% of the time, works independently setting work schedule priorities 10% of the time.
  • Does not supervise others.

Primary Purpose:

This position is primarily responsible for working in the wash bay including safe and efficient driving/ operating of tractor-trailer units into and out of the wash bay area and washing trucks and trailers.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Safe and efficient driving/ operation of tractor-trailer units.
  • Washing of trucks.
  • Washing of trailers.
  • Washing of company cars.
  • Maintaining wash bay in a safe, clean condition.
  • Applies lean tools and thinking to identify and eliminate waste
  • Follows and applies standard work and work instructions

Occasional Work Performed:

  • Limited shop duties

Safety Responsibility:

This position assumes responsibility for the workplace safety of self and co-workers, and for the safety conditions of the work location

 

 

Working Conditions:

  • Indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Extensive standing and/or walking on concrete.

 

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or general equivalency degree required.
  • Previous tractor-trailer driving experience preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older to work in this position.
  • Sufficient vision and hearing necessary to operate powered equipment safely.
  • Maintain a high level of quality and have a good attitude toward workplace and fellow employees.
  • Desire and ability to work in a Total Quality team environment.

 

Wage Range: $12.37 – $18.56 per hour
