Location: University Park, IL      Department: Building & Grounds      Reports To: Building & Grounds Supervisor


Your Role: This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of company buildings, equipment and grounds and requires knowledge in the electrical trade, mechanics, HVAC and refrigeration systems.


  • Reports to the Building Grounds Maintenance Manager.
  • Functions in a team environment.
  • Executes work under direct supervision 50% of the time works independently setting priorities and work schedule 50% of the time.
  • Does not supervise others.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structures using hand and power tools.
  • Paints structure, performs masonry work, repairs plumbing fixtures and woodwork.
  • Makes repairs to tools and equipment.
  • Repairs, maintains and installs electrical conduit.
  • Moves, installs and adjusts fixtures, motors and other electrical/mechanical equipment.
  • Connects power cables to equipment and installs grounding leads.
  • Perform repairs on office furniture.
  • Maintains the grounds including mowing, snow removal, repairing roads and lot.
  • Assists higher level mechanics and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Member of the company Emergency Response Team.
  • Included in on call rotation to receive calls during off hours.
  • Applies lean tools and thinking to identify and eliminate waste.
  • Follows and applies standard work and work instructions.




We Need You To Have:

  • High School diploma or general equivalency degree required.
  • Good physical condition and agility to access all areas of the facilities for installation and repair of equipment.
  • Computer literate.
  • Safety oriented.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Two years of maintenance trades experience required.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Training, ability and physician approval to use SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) required.
  • Must become a member of our Emergency Response Team.
  • Sufficient vision and hearing necessary to operate powered equipment safely.
