OK Garage Technician Level I   Job Title:  Garage Technician, Level I Department:  Dot Transportation / Garage Facility Location: Bear, DE  Shift Schedule & Hours: Tuesday - Saturday Varied Shift   Supervision: - Reports to Garage Manager. - Executes work under direction or established procedures 85% of the time; works independently           setting priorities and work schedule 15% of the time. - Does not supervise others.   Primary Purpose: Safe and efficient repair of truck equipment.   Essential Responsibilities: - Perform assigned general maintenance tasks on company trucks and vehicles. - Maintains proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of all company equipment, primarily trucks. - Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and modifications on company           equipment, primarily trucks. - Maintains proficiency in all aspects of preventative maintenance for company equipment. - Tests, repairs, and/or replaces electrical and lighting systems on trucks. - Repairs and inspects HVAC systems on tractors. - Interacts with customers, vendors, and other employees regarding vehicle repairs and other shop           business. - Completes required paperwork including vehicle write-ups, work orders, and time cards. - Assists in compiling and maintaining all documents necessary to comply with the requirements of           local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.   Working Conditions: - Extensive standing and/or walking on concrete. - Temperature extremes (summer and winter conditions) working in both indoor and occasionally           outdoor weather conditions as required to maintain trucks and associated equipment.   Safety Responsibility: This position assumes responsibility for the workplace safety of self and co-workers, and for the safety conditions of the work location, exercises and promotes safe behaviors and shows unyielding support of programs, rules and policies regarding safety.

This position is designed to provide upward mobility, assuming availability, within 2 years. - Work with individuals across departments to develop knowledge of warehouse impact to various internal partners. - Provide training or training opportunities and perform evaluations of direct reports. - Gather, measure, and interpret data critical to improving processes within the distribution center and in support of internal partners. - Participate in meetings with purchasing, warehouse, transportation, and outside distribution centers to enhance knowledge of the processes and develop relationships necessary to collaborate effectively. - Leads continuous improvement efforts while applying lean thinking and tools to identify and eliminate waste.   Role Specifics: - Travel– Occasional overnight travel to other company facilities or outside facilities for training. Must have ability to travel independently as needed, without restriction by all modes of transportation, including car, plane, or train - Working Environment – Ability to work in all temperature conditions, from below 0 to above 100 degrees. - Schedule – Ability to work flexible hours (weekend, night shift and on-call) based upon facility needs
