  • Coordinates with dispatch for efficient and effective fleet resource utilization.
  • Assists with vehicle safety issues.
  • Conducts driver and staff reviews.
  • Supports overall dispatch and traffic goals.
  • Coordinates training for drivers based on individual performance within key areas.
  • Manages the on-board computer system and hours of service for all drivers.
  • Leads continuous improvement efforts while applying lean thinking and tools to eliminate waste.

 

Role Specifics:

  • Supervision – Assigned drivers & dispatch staff.
  • Travel – Approx. 10 nights per year. Must have ability to travel independently as needed, without restriction by all modes of transportation, including car, plane, or train for training or meetings.

Your Role: Directs and coordinates all transportation activities out of the Liverpool, NY distribution center. Responsible for developing and maintaining processes in order to accomplish company goals in the most cost effective and efficient manner.

  • Addresses all vendor and customer (both internal and external) challenges.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, and manages all personnel in Liverpool, NY DTI related to managers, dispatch, and drivers.
  • Works with the HR Manager in safety opportunities, Workers’ Compensation, benefits, discipline, and quality training for all DTI employees.
  • Contains costs through effective routing of customer orders and management of inbound freight by the dispatching staff.
  • Maintains a safe working environment for all DTI employees, as well as, compliance with all OSHA and DOT regulations.
  • Prepares and performs budget responsibilities for capital, target, operating and payroll budgets for the transportation area of the distribution center.
  • Focuses on the distribution center DTI service levels, miles per cwt, turnover, and safety frequency rate.
  • Leads continuous improvement efforts while applying lean thinking and tools to eliminate waste.

  • Supervision – Transportation Managers, Driver Supervisors, Assistant Dispatchers, and Dispatch staff.

Your Role: This position is responsible for controlling, inspecting, recording and tracking inbound and outbound customer and vendor truck traffic.

  1. Inbound Traffic
    • Verify and Record inbound arrival traffic / visitor information.
    • Contact effected department for entrance authorization and instructions.
    • Provide destination directions and instruction.
    • Inspect and Record inbound vehicle data
    • Verify product returns.
    • Prepare product OS&D documentation.
    • Process Company Driver check-in paperwork.
    • Computer data entry as required-including AS400, TMW, DC Yard Management, and Microsoft Applications.
    • Inspect inbound vehicles
  2. Outbound Traffic
    • Record outbound departure traffic information.
    • Check/Verify outbound driver’s delivery paperwork and vehicle assignment.
      1. Coordinate correction of paperwork or vehicle assignment errors.
    • Inspect outbound vehicles.
    • Computer data as required-including AS400, TMW, DC Yard Management, and Microsoft Applications.
    • Reefer setting checks
    • Schedule delivery appointments for Dot Drivers.

Role Specifics:

  • Assists safety department with dissemination of company driver notices and messages.
  • Notify safety department of safety or security accidents, incidents, or violations.
  • Assist Dispatch with after office hours driver support (People-net, Total Mail)
  • Scan company delivery receipts.
  • Spreadsheet Tracking
  • Custom-haul load info and paperwork tracking
  • Clean gate station, windows, floor and furniture and outside area.

Your Role: To function as a yard spotter for the NY Warehouse: Spot trailers in the lot or at a dock door in an efficient safe manner; inspect spotter truck and trailers for maintenance and cleaning.  Check reefer units. Fuels / tops off reefer trailer fuel tank. Wash out trailers when needed.  Other duties as required.

  • Moving trailers between pads, doors, & buildings on a timely basis. Ensures dock door is closed, and dock plate is retracted when docking or pulling trailers away from dock.
  • Sliding tandems to meet state bridge laws.
  • Weighing outbound and finished trailers accurately.
  • Getting trailer reloaded when trailer is overweight. (check with Warehouse clerk)
  • Checking trailers. Ensure all trailers are secure (locked) in yard. (Dot and 3rd party )
  • Inspects trailer registration, inspection, and other documentation. Inspect trailer suspension, sliding tandem rails and all pins out, frame and cross-members for structural integrity, brakes and lights.
  • Inspecting spotter tractors, basic maintenance and fueling (fill out inspection sheet daily)
  • Checking refrigerator unit operation.
  • Performing yard, trailer & dock check.
  • Performing basic communications, radio and personal.

  • Typically dispatched for 2 – 4 days per trip, and will average 2 days of home time per week
  • Working in all weather conditions, both weekday and weekend schedules, day and night driving
